APTLA BOARD & MEMBER RETREAT
2:00pm Friday, April 24th - Noon Sunday, April 26th, 2009
White Point Beach Resort, White Point, Queen's County, Nova Scotia.

APTLA is planning a Board & Member Retreat for April 24th-26th, 2009 at White Point Beach Resort, in White Point, Nova Scotia.

Ed Lazarus has been engaged to facilitate our Retreat. Ed is a former Senior Vice President for State Affairs at the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (now American Association for Justice) with the most extensive knowledge of public opinions and attitudes toward the civil justice system of any trial consultant in America today.

Ed is expert at focusing Trial Lawyer Associations on their mandate. He was a phenomenal asset to us at our last Retreat.

In addition to the business to be canvassed, Ed Lazarus will make an exclusive educational presentation on EFFECTIVE MESSAGE COMMUNICATION. This is a broad-based and useful presentation which covers communicating to judges and juries; at settlement and mediation; or to the public for communications about the civil justice system or specific cases. It is, of course, a plaintiff-based and Members Only presentation
that will increase the skill and knowledge of all those who attend. MATERIALS from this session will be available only to those who attend the Retreat weekend. They will not be available for sale after the event.

Those who attended our last Retreat will recall that White Point is an excellent venue for families, and there are lots of things to do for spouses and kids. It is about 1 hour 20 minutes outside of Halifax.

This program has a registration limit of 30 attendees. Please mark April 24th-26th, 2009 in your calendars, Blackberries and Palm Pilots NOW.

APTLA has arranged pricing to include two nights accommodation (Guest Rooms or Cottages), 3 meals daily, 2 refreshment breaks daily and attendance at the Communications Training session. All registrations will include the full weekend, and will be made through APTLA.

There are several types of accommodations available.

CONFERENCE PACKAGE with WP LODGE ROOM = $630

CONFERENCE PACKAGE with ONE BEDROOM COTTAGE = $680

CONFERENCE PACKAGE with TWO BEDROOM COTTAGE = $785

CONFERENCE PACKAGE with THREE BEDROOM COTTAGE = $805

Again, this pricing includes 2 nights in the specified accommodation, 3 meals daily & 2 refreshment breaks daily for the APTLA Member attending the Retreat, all Retreat education and functions, plus use of all resort facilities. It is basically an all-inclusive price for the Retreat Registrant for the full weekend.

Families are very welcome to join us at the Retreat and there will be lots of things for kids and spouses to do over the weekend. The cost of a spouse, companion and/or children to attend the Retreat is limited to the cost of purchasing a Meal Plan from White Point or purchasing meals a la carte. Accommodation and resort facility use is included in the Retreat Registration price. The Modified American Plan (MAP) includes: breakfast and dinner for $41 per person per day plus tax. The Full American Plan includes: breakfast, lunch and dinner for $55 per person per day plus tax. White Point also offers Child and Youth Meal Plans: Child MAP - $11; Child FAP - $17; Youth MAP - $23; & Youth FAP - $32. These prices are per day plus tax.

All incidentals (such as phone calls, bar tabs, family Meal Plans...) will be paid by the individual member and are not included in the Retreat Registration price.
