APTLA BOARD & MEMBER RETREAT
Dinner Friday, April 29th - Noon Sunday, May 1st, 2011
White Point Beach Resort, White Point, Queen's County, Nova Scotia.

NEWSFLASH:  THE GOLF COURSE AT WHITE POINT IS NOW OPEN!

It is that time again, APTLA is holding its biennial Board & Member Retreat. We need you to put this in your calendars and in your plans.

Ed Lazarus has been engaged to facilitate our Retreat. Ed is a former Senior Vice President for State Affairs at the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (now American Association for Justice). Ed is expert at focusing Trial Lawyer Associations on their mandate. He was a phenomenal asset to us at our last two Retreats.

In addition to the business to be canvassed, we are planning a special education session for those attending the Retreat.
Ed Lazarus is not only an excellent facilitator for Trial Lawyer Associations, he is one of the most highly sought after trial consultants with the most extensive knowledge of public opinions and attitudes toward the civil justice system of any trial consultant in America today. Ed has prepared a presentation to assist plaintiff trial lawyers in their dealings with Judges, Mediators, Jurors and anyone else they need to persuade. “How Old Information Influences New Information” will be a review of information filtering, the five biases, and how they interact in relation to each other. You will see concrete examples laid bare, and learn to recognize and work with and against them.

*The education session by Ed Lazarus has been approved for 1.5 MCPD Credit Hours by the Law Society of New Brunswick.*

Those who attended our last Retreat will recall that White Point is an excellent venue for families, and there are lots of things to do for spouses and kids. It is about 1 hour 20 minutes outside of Halifax.

APTLA has arranged pricing to include 2 nights in the specified accommodation, 3 meals daily & 2 refreshment breaks daily for the APTLA Member attending the Retreat, all Retreat education and functions, plus use of all resort facilities. It is basically an all-inclusive price for the Retreat Registrant for the full weekend. All registrations will include the full weekend, and will be made through APTLA.

There are several types of accommodations available:

• 2 Day/Night RETREAT PACKAGE with WP LODGE ROOM = $675
• 2 Day/Night RETREAT PACKAGE with ONE BEDROOM COTTAGE = $720
• 2 Day/Night RETREAT PACKAGE with TWO BEDROOM COTTAGE = $820
• 2 Day/Night RETREAT PACKAGE with THREE BEDROOM COTTAGE = $845

Families are very welcome to join us at the Retreat and there will be lots of things for kids and spouses to do over the weekend. The cost of a spouse, companion and/or children to attend the Retreat is limited to the cost of purchasing a Meal Plan from White Point or purchasing meals a la carte. Accommodation and resort facility use is included in the Retreat Registration price. The Modified American Plan (MAP) includes: breakfast and dinner for $41 per person per day plus tax. The Full American Plan includes: breakfast, lunch and dinner for $55 per person per day plus tax. White Point also offers Child and Youth Meal Plans: Child MAP - $11; Child FAP - $17; Youth MAP - $23; & Youth FAP - $32. These prices are per day plus tax.

All incidentals (such as phone calls, bar tabs, family Meal Plans...) will be paid by the individual member and are not included in the Retreat Registration price.
